How to Declutter before Selling
Preparing to sell your home? Let’s talk about decluttering. [Written by our Staging Manager, Lindsey]
Getting a home ready to go on the market can feel like an overwhelming process. I understand completely…we’ve all been there! Which is why I’d like to share a few tips to help ease some stress:
Start Small: Begin with one room or one area at a time. Tackling small spaces lets you see progress quickly.
Create Piles: As you sort through items, create a pile for items that are going to the dump, or a donation pile…and then any items that you’d like to keep.
Limit the Personal: Buyers want to envision themselves in your home. Remove family photos and any personal items to help create a natural canvas.
Rent a Storage Unit: Consider renting a storage unit so you can limit the amount of things that are in your house. We’ve had clients completely move all of their items out of the house, then have us stage to help create the natural canvas in a transitional design.
Deep Clean: As soon as the home is decluttered, give your home a thorough clean…and I mean thorough. Do not forget the vents in the bathrooms or laundry room! A fresh, clean space feels inviting and ready for new owners.
